The town of Arkham hums with electricity. Holovid displays wash the night sky with neon colors. The streets bustle with hover cars, traders and cargo trains taking parts, products and garbage to and from Central Robotics Development. Underneath the noise and bustle a series of mysterious disapperances have plagued the manufacturing hub. First Jim Grisswald, a robotics engineer, reported his youngest daughter Celia had gone missing. Then, Amy Sinclair reported her fiancé never came home after a night of drinking with friends. One by one more disapperances piled up until one day a young cargo hauler found Celia's body on the edge of town at the dump. As a private investigator you've been hired to sort out what's really happening.

You arrive to the alley behind Jim Grisswald's house. Drizzling rain obscures your vision, but it looks like the back door is standing ajar, there is a pile of debris near the door. Your curiousity begins to overtake your rational brain. Do you leave and call the authorities? Or move to the house?

Faintly, you can see there are four other doors in the hallway. You can see stairs at the end of the hallway leading to an attic, stairs to your left leading down through the cellar door, and some books and shelves in what appears to be the study. Around the corner of the hallway a faint blue glow emenates from what must be the parlor. In the dim light you can make out muddy footprints leading from the cellar to the parlor.

Inside the study you see a messy desk is covered in holovid articles, police reports, and witness accounts. You hear heavy footsteps plodding down the hallway outside the study door. The faint light passing through the keyhole goes dark for just a moment before the steps continue down the hallway."

You lean over the desk taking a closer look, there are red circles drawn around portions of the police report including a witness interview saying they saw a 7ft tall man partially painted silver. You collect two power cells from a lower drawer.

The stairs leading down to the cellar are covered in muddy fooprints. The cellar has a large hole in the wall, big enough for someone to squeeze through. You peek your head through the wall and see it leads into the city sewer system.

Suddenly a giant mutated rat begins scurrying up the sewer wall. Just as you pull your head back into the cellar it pops through the hole and lands snarling in the middle of the room.

Way to go! You have killed a mutated rat in the cellar, you begin to feel more confident with the laser gun in your hand.

Descending the stairs you see the rat has torn apart the cellar. Glass, broken pieces of shelving, and shredded canned goods are scattered across the floor. Upon reaching the bottom the mutant rat again turns its attention to you...

The cellar is quiet, the corpse of the rat lays on the floor before you.

You climb the ladder to the attic. The feeling of being watched paralyzes you before making it to the top of the ladder. For just a moment you think you can see the faint outline of a person in the corner. You notice a dusty old laser gun is within reach of the opening to the attic.

Jim Grisswald stands in the center of the parlor. "What have you done to the laser-field?" he screams, furious. Before you can answer a mechanical whirring gets louder and louder and a humanoid android bursts through the wall of the parlor advancing towards you.

The entrance the parlor is blocked by the faint blue glow of a laser-field. You pick up a button from the floor and toss it at the laser-field and watch it incinerate. You notice the muddy foot prints continue up the stairs towards the attic. Perhaps theres something that can help in the attic, cellar, or study. You cannot move to the parlor.

The Android falls to the ground, having taken its last step. Jim explains Central Robotics Development had created an Android that became self aware, eventually lashing out at its creators and was the cause of the disapperances. The case is solved, you have saved Arkham from the Android.

Your shots richochet off the androids armor, it appears undamaged.

The android misses, laserbeams spray the wall behind you as you dodge out of the way.

You have fallen in battle, a valiant attempt. Jim cowers in the corner shrieking "Why, why did you come? It will escape now -- You have doomed us all!".
